Samsung Gear S3 Smartwatch Launched in India

Samsung just launched its flagship smartwatch in India, and it will be available for sale starting from January 18.

The Gear S3 smartwatch is available in two versions: Classic and Frontier and they run on Samsung’s own Tizen operating system. The smartwatches cost Rs 28,500, and they can be ordered from retail stores or the official websites.

The Gear S3 has a 1.3 inch circular Super AMOLED display, a 1GHz Processor and 4 GB of Internal Storage. The company adds 768 Megabytes of RAM to run the operating system, and it is IP68 Certified for water and dust resistance.

While most specs are same for both versions of Gear 3 Smartwatch, there are some differences too. The first one being the availability of 3G and LTE only on the Frontier version and there are some different in their aesthetics too.

Being equipped with LTE, the Frontier version of the watch can be used as a standalone device, and you will be able to make calls on it using the built-in microphone. On the Classic version, you will have to pair it to a Smartphone in order to use all features.

Samsung has added a few important sensors to take on with Apple Watch. The Gear S3 has a GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 and heart-rate monitor to cover the needs of a fitness tracking. Apart from that, the watch will support Samsung Pay and NFC.
