More Reports About iPhones Cracking Open Come Out

After our earlier report of 6 already disturbing cases of Apple’s iPhone-8 Plus batteries swelling and getting the phone split opened, we had been waiting and watching to confirm how true the news is. For now, though there is no official response from Apple, just that they are looking into the matter, there is a case spotted in the US.

A Best Buy employee on Reddit uploaded the images of bulging iPhone 8 on Thursday.

Now it seems a serious problem, one that will affect Apple’s reputation badly. Previous cases were reported from Taiwan, Japan, China, Canada, and Greece. The first incident was spotted in Taiwan when suddenly a lady informed that her iPhone 8 Plus split open while it was charging.

Apple has a huge reputation for its hardware which is arguably infallible in its consumers’ view. If all pieces are affected by this disaster, returning or replacing the pieces will be only a slight damage compared to what Apple will go through as a loss of its market reputation.

iPhone 8 and 8 Plus went on sale on September 22. Apple has not yet released any data of early sales of iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, so we indeed do not have an exact report of how many phones are already out there in the market, how many are in stores and how many Apply keeps in his manufacturing units.

This is while pre-orders for Apple’s highest and most ambitious phone iPhone X will begin on October 27. This phone will be shipping by November 3 and is built on the same technology in terms of hardware. It has not encountered any complaint till the date but the issues in its sibling may affect its sale too.

Galaxy Note 9 Will Have A Finger Print Sensor On Its Display, Instead of a Button: Report

Apple and Samsung tried and failed integrating an under-display fingerprint sensor in their recent smartphones. We still have a weird fingerprint sensor on the Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy Note 8 and iPhone X does not include it at all, relying on a new Face ID system,

Next year, however, 2018 flagship phones will get an under-display fingerprint sensor for Samsung. Apple though is facing problems in finding the technology for its hard to sync it with its face ID implementation on the iPhone X.

Ming-Chi Kuo, of KGI Securities, claims that Samsung’s next Note flagship will include “under-display optical fingerprint” technology. Three companies are willing to be the supplier to Samsung. BeyondEyes and Samsung LSI have already reported having ties. Egis is another willful company. They are currently suppliers of fingerprint sensors for Samsung’s phones.

After slowly ditching bezels this would be the ideal solution if manufacturers get rid of the obligation of separate fingerprint sensors for authentication. It’s not new in the market though as in last May, LG developed a fingerprint sensor that sits under the display and this year at MWC Shanghai, Vivo unveiled the first smartphone with an under-display fingerprint sensor based on the technology developed by Qualcomm.

So the stuff is already there, it’s just the matter of time and the right smartphone as the bigger companies come on the boat. It will be interesting to see if Google starts working on the same thing now that Pixel 2 and PIxel XL 2 are out on the market.

iPhone May Have a Serious Battery Problem, Apple Investigates

In case you forgot, we covered an incident of an iPhone 8 cracking open when it was put in charge a few days ago.  When it was one case, we thought it was a rumor, but there are 6 reports of iPhone 8 batteries swelling and phone splitting open.

Two iPhone 8 Plus users in Japan and Taiwan encountered it recently and the total number of reports reached six in five countries including Hong Kong, Canada, and Greece. Apple has been acknowledging this recently saying “We are aware and looking into it.”

In the first incident, an iPhone 8 Plus user in Taiwan tweeted photos of the swelling device while charging. It was only purchased 5 days ago. Apple recovered the affected iPhone 8 Plus.

But then in Japan, a device arrived split open in the box. Then there came reports from Hong Kong, Greece, and Canada after these reports.

Supposedly it is due to Apple’s obsession with thin phones. The same was suffered earlier was Samsung, in its case, it was Galaxy Note 7 that was called off after the reports of blasting batteries. Manufacturers now face limitations with lithium-ion batteries, and end up developing batteries with more power but with risks of a short circuit.

Even after knowing that Galaxy Note 7 is back on market in a bit different package, we are sure Apple does not want the same to happen.

iPhone 8 Plus Cracked Open Because of Faulty Battery: Report

iPhone 8 was launched just a few weeks ago and it looks like Apple’s new phone might be in a big trouble. A user reported that her iPhone 8 split open after almost five days of use. The Next Web reported that Apple is currently investigating: the phone may have split up while charging or using.

At Taiwan, a user claimed that her iPhone 8 Plus got split open while it was charging. As the web reports came late Friday, the words were: “So far, the finger of blame is being pointed at the battery. Unconfirmed reports state the iPhone 8 Plus uses the same battery manufacturer, Amperex Technology Limited (ATL), as the Samsung Galaxy Note 7″.

Arguably, the screen of the device bulged out five days after the user purchased it. It was 64GB “Rose Gold” iPhone 8 Plus using the supplied cable and adaptor. “After about three minutes, she reported seeing the front panel bulge, and eventually lift completely from the device”, the report included. BGR reported about one more users reporting about the screen being visibly detached from the phone upon its arrival, although the phone was not being charged at the moment she noticed.

Because it’s just one user, It may just be a hoax or an anomaly as well, for there are no reports of visible evidence of burn marks. Unless Apple’s or a trustworthy independent investigation can confirm that the battery was at fault, we should take this news with a grain of salt.

We have to wait and watch till Apple finishes the investigation – or more iPhone’s split like that. Considering faulty batteries are some of the common problems with mobile phones these days and in some cases, these have been dangerous for users, Apple certainly will wish that these reports are fake. iPhone X will be coming very soon and it will be interesting to see what Apple has to say about these recent incidents.

Apple’s iPhone 8 May Lose Its Most Hyped Feature, Will Still Come With Bezel-less Display

We have talked about iPhone 8 in the past, the phone will be launching soon and it is going to be one of the most important smartphone launches of the year. While almost all leaks and reports show that the phone will have a bezel display, it looks like Apple is still having trouble with having fingerprint sensors on the screen instead of baking it into the home button.

For months iPhone 8 was rumored to come with a fingerprint reader built into the display. What it means is that you do not need the fingerprint scanner at the home button to unlock your device. You just do it from any place over the touch surface. However, Forbs reported that the iPhone 8 has a fingerprint scanner ‘on the home button’. It means Apple couldn’t get the technology perfected in time for its 2017 flagship and it was canceled to be incorporated in iPhone 8.

So as it seems, iPhone 8 is missing out on a key patent technology. It is US Patent No. 9,747,488 titled “Active sensing element for acoustic imaging systems”. It reads fingerprint for authentication through ultrasonic detection. An acoustic system built up that sends out a pulse passing through a second layer called substrate and is reflected back to piezoelectric transducers to determine the image of whatever object is touching the substrate.

This patent is also to metamorphosized many technological parts that require high voltages. In short, it is the future and it seems Apple is having a hard time bringing it up to iPhone8 while being close to adapting the technology. If iPhone 8 doesn’t include this technology l, it will be gruesome and annoying to loyal Applers, for there may be a case if Samsung incorporates such stuff in Galaxy S9 or Note 9 in 2018.

If that happens, Apple’s looking forward to including it in 2019 devices, it will be interesting to see if Samsung can manage to add the same feature to its Galaxy S9 which will probably come in January next year.

Here is Everything We Know About The Upcoming iPhone 8

The new child of the royal family is on its way. This is the eighth one. Yes, we are talking about iPhone 8, that is to launch in September. Unlike others, Apple had frowned on leaks sufficiently to keep the market in curiosity. There is lesser stuff known about iPhone 8 than all other major announcements like of Red Hydrogen or The Essential Phone. On the other hand, Apple is more predictable than anyone else. Like the previous announcement dates, a similar story seems coming this year around 12 or 13 September. The launch date, however, may drift a little here and there.

Nonetheless, there still are things to ponder if you are willing to update your Apple device or switch from Android/Windows. Firstly, it’s three variants in iPhone 8 series, unlike two variants in previous occasions.

So there’ll be three iPhones: likes of the 8s and 8s Plus, titled as iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Edition as expected – and then another sibling with a greater price supposedly titled as iPhone 8 Pro. Every possible feature rumored till now is going to be a part of iPhone 8 pro including depth-sensing cameras, an entirely new display technology, a screen that wraps all the way around the front and much more to surprise.

A leaked photo of display assembly

Most of those features are revealed by Apple when it mistakenly published the software for its new phone publicly be it its design, its lack of a home-button, and its facial recognition features. The new iPhones will also have a taller aspect ratio for the screen and the phones will have significantly smaller bezels compared to older phones.

It will be more expensive too, costing as much as $1200 or more for the most expensive model. And the iPhone events are a couple of weeks into September, around the Labor Day weekend, kind of patronizing the working class.
