Samsung’s mobile chief DJ Koh had surprised everyone in January this year by announcing that Samsung will be launching a sequel to the Note series even after the Note 7 fiasco last year. Now as per the company’s first quarter annual report it seems as if the Note 8 will be launched in the later half of the year 2017.

Samsung announced its quarterly results for the quarter ended March 31 on Thursday and in the announcement it also said that it will be launching a new flagship smartphone in the later half of 2017. This time fits perfectly in the launch time of Note series smartphones, for example, Galaxy Note 5 was launched in August 2015 and Galaxy Note 7 was launched in August last year.

This announcement shows that Samsung has stuck with the regular time of the release of the smartphone instead of rushing it despite the fact that its predecessor is absent from the market. This should be good news for the customers as last year by pushing the release of Note 7 in order to compete with Apple, Samsung had ended up in the Note 7 trouble.

It is generally a trend that Samsung announces its models before Apple but releases them later on. Seeing as being in a rush with Note 7 had caused the whole trouble it was wise for Samsung to follow the same trend with Note 8.

It was earlier speculated that the Note series might be killed off due to the bad name that had been associated with it but after DJ Koh’s statement, it seems as if the South Korean giant hasn’t given up at all.
