Samsung Launches Galaxy J5 Pro, A Beefed Up Version of Previously Launched J5

This Tuesday Samsung announced new Galaxy J5 Pro smartphone, an upgraded variant of Galaxy J5. At the time of writing, the phone is only for sale in Thailand at THB 9,990 (roughly $290 or Rs. 19,000), but we can expect the phone to launch in other countries including US and India soon. The J5 Pro’s key feature is its RAM and storage increase while other almost all other specs are the same as previously launched Galaxy J5. Galaxy J5 Pro comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage which is a bump from 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage of the previously launched Galaxy J5. Both may find new markets internationally in next few month. J5 handset already had a metal design, fingerprint sensor, VoLTE support, and Android 7.0 Nougat.

Apart from RAM and storage, J5 Pro has a dual-SIM slot, a 5.2-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) Super AMOLED display and the phone is powered by a  1.6GHz Exynos 7870 octa-core processor coupled with Mali T830 GPU. Expandable storage via microSD card is supported up to 256GB. As for optics, the Galaxy J5 Pro includes a 13-megapixel rear and front camera with LED flash on both sides. The rear sensor offers f/1.7 aperture while the front sensor offers f/1.9 aperture.

J5 Pro has a 3000mAh battery which is upto the market standards. Its channels for connectivity include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, Micro USB port, and GPS. It’s dimensions are at 146.3×71.3×7.9mm, shaping it very much like the Galaxy J5, the Galaxy J5 Pro’s fingerprint scanner is embedded in home button.
