HTC’s recent years have been somewhat troubling, while its previous flagships did get favorable reviews, the company has not been able to compete well with the likes of Apple and Samsung. To keep itself in competition, the company recently launched its newest flagship, the U11. The phone is now available for sale in retails stores and online stores.
Specifications
The U11 is an Android phone and it ships with Android 7.1 with an HTC Sense skin running on top of it. The front of the phone is devoted to a 5.5-inch QHD LCD Display that is covered in Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Apart from the pixel-dense screen, probably the biggest flagship grade feature of the phone is its SoC, it runs on Snapdragon 835 that is clocked at 2.45GHz on all 4 cores. Apart from that the phone comes in two versions, the first one is with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage and the other variant is a more spacious 6GB RAM and 128GB storage.
In the camera department, the phone has a 13-megapixel camera with OIS and a f/1.7 aperture that supports 4K video shoots. The selfie camera is a 16-megapixel sensor that has HDR Boost and BSI Support.
The phone has a fairly standard 3000mAh battery that company claims can last for almost 24 hours of talk time and 14 days of standby time. Connectivity wise, the U11 supports USB C, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and NFC support. The phone does not have a 3.5mm Audio Jack.
Another impressive feature of the phone is it’s IP67 water and dust resistant certification and it’s Hi-res audio certifications.
The squeezing related features
HTC U11 has some sensors on its sides that HTC is calling as Edge Sense that lets you send texts, launch the camera and start flashlights by squeezing the metal edges of U11. The phone lets you customize the sensitivity and action both in its settings but most reviewers have considered it as Gimmic.
The U11 is abvailable in India for Rs 51,999 for the 6GB RAM variant. Online, the phone will be exclusive to Amazon India but it should soon be available in brick and mortar stores.
With the U11, HTC is aiming to shoot Galaxy S8 and iPhone 7 Plus out of the market , it will be interesting to see how U11 performas in market. In US, the phone costs almost $649.
