After numerous leaks and rumors, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus have finally been unveiled. The South Korean tech giant unveiled these flagship models with the aim of taking on other Android devices in the market as well as the iPhone 7.
Once you take a look at the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus you will see that they are single handily the best Samsung has ever produced even though they are an iterative evolution of the Samsung Galaxy S7. The smartphone has a refined look to it while packing in top notch hardware. And it comes in a variety of colors too.
The best hardware feature of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus is their almost no bezel which when combined with the curved edges gives it an all display feel. As there is no other competitor in the market offering this feature, so Samsung does have an edge.
Coming to specifications of the individual smartphones the Samsung Galaxy S8 runs on Android 7 Nougat and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Processor. The smartphone has a 5.8-inch 18:9 Quad HD+ Super AMOLED Display. It comes with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal memory that is expandable. The rear camera is 12 MP, and the front camera is 8 MP. It sports a 3,000 mAh battery, and the connectivity options are Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth 5.0; NFC and USB Type-C 2.0 (3.1 compatible). It is available in black carbon, arctic silver, and orchid color.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus has almost the same features with the difference lying in 6.2-inch 18:9 Quad HD+ Super AMOLED Display and 3,500 mAh battery.
Samsung has introduced some new features in the flagship models that are worth mentioning. The first one being Bixby. Bixby is Samsung Voice Assistant quite similar to Google Assistant of Siri. Bixby has a greater control on your device that will let you operate your device hands-free. Bixby can be summoned by pressing a button on the side of the drive or simply by saying Bixby to the phone.
Another new feature is Samsung DeX. This will let you use your smartphone as a computer by inserting it in a dock. The dock then enables the S8 with full sized ports for a keyboard/mouse, and even an HDMI port to connect to a full-sized display.
Another new feature in the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus is the iris and facial recognition. This will help in securing your phone with the unique pattern of your eye or face providing great security.
The new dual audio feature in the devices will help you pair up with two Bluetooth devices at a time, and the separately control their values too.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus come with higher battery retention too. Samsung said that the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus will have higher battery retention and that the batteries will degrade slower than the previous models.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus will be available in US stores on April 21st at AT&T, Cricket Wireless, Sprint, Straight Talk Wireless, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, and Verizon Wireless. They will be available on preorder from 12:01 EDT on March 30th for those looking to get it before anyone else.
