Signing up before being able to use a web services is time consuming. It becomes worse when you are in need of contacting someone and the person is not on a particular network. It takes time for the other party to create an account and for too innocent people – it may be tough too.
It seems that this will soon become a rare situation for Video Calling.
Microsoft has made it a lot more easy for users to Skype everyone. Now you can make a video call to anyone -even those who do not have a Skype account.
You will be able to send others a URL from Skype. When the other person goes to that web address, he will be able to do a video chat or message chat with user. It works on Web, Phone and PC version of Skype too.
The only thing the user at the other end needs is an internet connection. The Unique URL can be sent to others via Facebook, WhattsApp, Twitter, Google+ or via Email.
Curruntly the service is only available in US and UK. However, the company has proised in a blog post that it will be made available for the rest of the world soon.
We’ll be rolling out to the rest of the world over the next couple of weeks and bringing the ability to start a conversation and share a link from mobile devices soon.
In an age where every website wants visitor to sign-up by giving them their Email address, this will definitely be a good step by Skype.
