Despite announcing it’s plans to sell the feature phone division to FIH Mobile earlier this year, Microsoft just launched a new Nokia Phone.
In a big surprise to everyone, the Redmond Giant announced a new feature phone called Nokia 216. The phone will ship in two variants, the first one will ship with a single SIM card slot while the other one will boast two total slots for adding SIM cards to the feature phone.
The phone sounds fairly basic: It has a 2.4″ QVGA Display and a 0.3 MP camera on the back, Surprisingly, Microsoft has also added a secondary VGA camera on the front of the phone. The phone is powered by Series 30 OS and to put iPhone 7 to shame, the phone comes with a headphone jack.

Perhaps the biggest selling point of the phone is it’s $37 price tag, which is quite attractive for people living in developing countries.
While Microsoft’s plans to make Windows Phone a strong competitor to Android or iOS don’t seem to be succeeding, Microsoft sells millions of feature phones every month and this is why it makes sense for the software giant to produce and sell new feature phones even in 2016.
