Andy Rubin, popularly known as ‘Father of Android’, has launched the Essential Phone that has a highly futuristic look and design. It comes in with intelligent home smart speakers and a 360-degree camera. The device is open for pre-orders and is currently launched specifically for US. We should soon expect a launch for other countries.
The phone has four color variants, Black Moon, Steller Grey, Pure White, and Ocean depths. Its price is 699$ (45,200INR) and with the 360-degree camera bundled it costs $749 (48,400INR). Its display is an edge to edge one with only a thin bottom bezel, holding no margin for sidebars. A dual camera setup and a fingerprint scanner are located at the back with no visible logos or so. The dimensions are 141.5×72.2×7.8mm, and the weight less than 185 grams. It’s flushed design keeps it free from camera bumps, and the metal edges keep the volume and power keys on the right bar. Its body is made of titanium and ceramic, which the company claims to the most durable material for a smartphones offered by any company.
Essential contains a set of magnetic pins for a modular accessory system. Arguably it keeps your phone chord-free, future-proof, and always up-to-date. The pins act as an automatic-click cordless connector for the modular accessories launched with the phone including 360-degree camera and the phone dock. The phone does not include 3.5mm jack, though 3.5mm can be used through USB-type C adapter.
The phone runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat with a 5.7-inch edge-to-edge QHD (1312×2560 pixels) display, 19:10 aspect ratio, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The processor is 64-bit Snapdragon 835 Octa-core (2.45GHz Quad + 1.9GHz Quad) with Adreno 540 GPU and 4GB RAM.The storagege capacity of the phone is 128GB.
A 13-megapixel dual camera setup is added at rear with RGB and monochrome capabilities, and hybrid autofocus, phase detect, IR Laser Assist Focus, and 4K video support. Front camera is an 8-megapixel one with selfie sensor, f/2.2 aperture, 16:9 aspect ratio, and 4K video support. The battery is 3040mAh with fast charging. For connectivity there are 4G LTE, Bluetooth v5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, NFC, GPS, USB Type-C port, Nano-SIM support, and GLONASS.
Along with the essential phone company has launched a miniature 360-degree camera. It works as an accessory to essential phone smoothly with the help of magnetic pins and provide you recording range over the full circle. This can be bundle with the phone with the prices included. Also, there can be included the Essential Home -a smart speaker, with big round display running on the new ambient OS.
