Blackberry is Making an Android Phone called Blackberry Priv

BlackBerry was always a pioneer in making mobile phones for Professionals. Although since the release of iPhone in 2007 and the rise of google’s Open Source Android, RIM has always found himself in Troubles. Most of the time people have criticised it for its app ecosystem and Operating System. Now RIM seems to have a plan to fight back with its first ever Android Powered Smartphone. BlackBerry is calling it BlackBerry Priv.

Current CEO of BlackBerry John Chen cleared out the name of the Phone and also stated that the phone will hit the market within this year.

Today, I am confirming our plans to launch Priv, an Android device named after BlackBerry’s heritage and core mission of protecting our customers’ privacy. Priv combines the best of BlackBerry security and productivity with the expansive mobile application ecosystem available on the Android platform.”

BlackBerry Priv has some unique things

Whatever anyone thinks about Priv when he sees the phone, but one thing can be seen for sure – Blackberry believes strongly in QWERTY keypads. Blackberry Priv – just like most of the blackberry phones – packs a full dedicated QWERTY keypad that is made via slider mechanism. Priv is using Android Lollipop OS version  5.1.1

In shooting departments Priv packs a 18MP rear shooter and a 5MP front facing camera.

Although Company is using Android in the Blackberry Priv, BlackBerry has clarified that they are not abandoning the Blackberry 10 OS.
