While Samsung has been teasing us with some photos of a Foldable phone that it will be launching in future, it looks like Samsung is not the only phone maker to go down the foldable phone way. Foldable smartphones have made a significant buzz in the market after being the tag of a dead dog of old days for a longer time.
The feat, however, has been achieved first by ZTE. The Axon M is first dual display smartphone with a hinge.
It is urgently launched exclusively on AT&T in the US and it will be in customer’s hands later this month. The Company has announced that soon Axon M will also be launched in China, Europe, and Japan as well.
For now, ZTE is celebrated as a multimedia device which can be folded to fit in much lesser size in your pocket than all premium phones laking this flexibility.
It has four modes. In Dual mode, Users can use two different apps on separate screens.The extended mode can stream while using email or allows users play games on a full 6.75-inch full-HD display. Mirror mode, which allows users to mirror the same content on both the screen when folded with both screens in different directions.Traditional mode makes it seem like a regular premium phone.
ZTE Axon M will be available at $24.17 (roughly Rs. 1,600) for 30 months on AT&T Next as soon as they will avail their services. There are no details about any unlocked versions yet.
For specifications, it has 5.2-inch dual full-HD TFT LCD displays with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The phone is powered by a little older Snapdragon 821 SoC. It has 4GB of RAM and packs 64GB inbuilt storage.
In the optics department, the phone has a 20-megapixel single camera for both rear and front-facing shots. The rear camera comes with f/1.8 aperture. Android 7.1.2 Nougat-based this handset packs 3180mAh of battery with Quick Charge 3.0 as well as fast charging.
The mobile technology world is dependent on consumer habits which have evolved over the past sometimes even unexpectedly. Axon M. Consumers are prototype testers that will expect more from their current smartphone and will lead new buildups to proceed. Considering Microsoft has also been interested in a foldable phone, It will be interesting to see how giants like Apple and Google receive this innovative step ahead.
