At MWC 2017, Lenovo launched, the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus which are company’s two budget smartphones with premium aluminum designs, fingerprint sensors, and updated software. Now that both phones are selling like hotcakes, the company is prepping to launch successors soon. It has been known that new versions of phones will be called Moto G5S and 5S Plus, following the naming convention that Apple set off a few years ago. Let’s talk about everything that we know about the devices.
Moto G5S Plus will look a lot like the regular G5S with only differences in color and camera sensors. Plus is to come in full gold and gray, as well as white face/silver back and white face/gold back versions. The G5S Plus will sport a dual camera setup on the back as well, making this the first Moto device to do so along with including 1080p video recording and a dual-LED flash.

Both the G5S and G5S Plus will have a full-metal design, almost similar to the G5 and G5 Plus. giving a feel of high-end build quality. The front of G5S will have a 5.2-inch Full HD while G5S Plus will have a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS LCD display. G5S Plus will come with a 64-bit Octa-core processor possibly including Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 660 or 630 platforms in these new phones. We expect G5S and G5S Plus to have variants in 32 & 64 GB storage and 2 or 4 GB RAM, alongside with expandable memories using microSD cards. The company will probably pack a battery with a capacity of 2,800 mAh to 3,000 mAh which will be noticeably lower than recently launched Moto C.
When will these devices will be released, or how much they’ll cost are still not revealed. Being higher end models, we expect them to cost a bit more than the standard G5 and G5 Plus, going for £169/€199 and $229. Lenovo didn’t launch the Moto G5 in the United States, but only the G5 Plus. So there’s no guarantee that these devices will even come to the U.S. However, with those two high-end smartphones in market Lenovo jumps one step ahead to secure its coming pieces in this flagship.
