Android’s Papa Promises His Essential Phone Will Be Ready in Few Weeks

Essential Phone PH-1, by the creator of Android, Andy Rubin, was promised to have released till now. Now that thirty days after Rubin’s announcement have passed by, the company has offered a newer timeline for its launch in coming few weeks, as appeared from Rubin’s tweet stating “We’ve been working around the clock to get our first device in your hands. See this update from Andy.” Notably, the Essential Phone is currently undergoing testing and certification with the multiple US and international carriers after it has received FCC certification last month.

A detailed exact date of the availability is still not announced, but by the latest updates, we may expect it in August. This new major smartphone, priced $700 (approximately Rs 45,000) is to take on the likes of Apple, Samsung, and Google with its top-tier features. It is made of a combination of titanium and ceramic for its unique texture.

Its specifications include 5.7-inch Quad-HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top and Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It is powered by a 3,040mAh battery with fast charging. Uniquely, the Essential Phone has a magnetic connector and wireless data transfer faculties within. The phone ships with a charging dock connecting with small metal pins too. The Essential Phone camera is a dual rear-camera module featuring a pair of 13-megapixel sensors. One RGB and a second monochrome sensor with the f/1.85 lens are included in it while on the up front, there is an 8-megapixel front camera with the recording of 4K videos. For connectivity, it has Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi, NFC, and GPS. As a contagious phenomenon in recent market trends, this phone also ditches the standard 3.5mm headphone jack.

With the coming developments, the company is supposed to move towards more affordable models. Though for now, the Essential Phone will cover the limelight as a new device. It is latest and competing in various segments including an updated Android Nougat 7.1.1 out-of-the-box.
