Dell is Making a Convertible XPS 13 Laptop with Edge-To-Edge Display

Dell’s XPS series of Windows laptop has always been one of the best general purpose laptops. Building on last year’s success of XPS13 and XPS15, Dell is making an XPS Laptop that is convertible to a tablet.

Unlike Microsoft Surface Book, the XPS 13 will have a 360-degree hinge that will allow the screen to be rotated. The screen is an infinity display that has appeared on last year’s laptops from the series.

xps 13 two in one

XPS 13 that dell released in 2015 was a commercial success and it was praised by many for its strong battery life and edge to edge display, but now that Microsoft has raised the bar of what an innovative laptop looks like with Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book, Dell is adding some other features to compete with it.

Windows Central first spotted the XPS 13 on Dell’s website. There were no other details about specification or pricing, but the images sure indicate that Dell won’t take away USB 3.0 Ports as Apple did with its MacBook Pro 2016.

We can also expect dual core Kaby Lake processors and a similar amount of RAM current XPS 13 from Dell.

Speaking of XPS, the company is also ready to launch the XPS 15 refresh which will feature a quad-core Intel Kaby Lake processor and Nvidia GTX 1050 with 4 GB of Video Buffer to give Dell some heavy ground in Laptop wars.

Considering the Laptop has been on the site, the company should showcase the laptop at CES 2017.

This Crazy Expensive Phone has a 7000mAh Battery and dual-curved Display

When brands are designing smartphones for rich people specifically, the design is not about efficiency or performance; it is mostly about the build quality, style and premium feeling that it has to offer. Gionee M2017 is a bit different than other luxury smartphones because it offers something other than style: excess raw power.

Listed today on the site, Gionee – a Chinese smartphone manufacturer, has launched an expensive luxury smartphone called Gionee M2017. The phone comes with a whopping 7000mAh battery which is more than double than most flagship smartphones such as Galaxy S7 and iPhone 7. The phone also comes with 6 GB RAM and a Snapdragon 653 processor. The price? You will have to shell out 7000 Yuans which roughly converts to $1000.

Specification and raw hardware capabilities are, however, just half of what the phone offers. The phone focuses heavily on premium design. The M2017 has gold edges a gold back camera plate an all gold software icons our of the box. Very similarly to Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, the phone has a dual curved 5.7″ AMOLED display.

The phone has a 12 Megapixel rear camera and 128 GB of internal storage paired with Google’s Android OS.

Don’t get your hopes too high, though; there is no word on if the phone will be available for markets outside of China. Also, Luxury phone often get caught on a bad software lifecycle. The Gionee M2017 runs Amigo UI which is built on top of Android Marshmellow, and there is no talk of the OS getting Android N update in the future.

Microsoft’s Blue Screen of Death is Going Green (for Windows Insiders)

The Blue Screen of Death is getting some cosmetic changes in the insider builds. In the Windows insiders preview build 14997, among some other new features, Microsoft is also making some changes on its scariest error screen by changing its color to green.

The change was first teased by Microsoft employee Matthijs Hoekstra on Twitter.

Twitter user Chris quickly found the change made by Microsoft in the insider release by doing something he referred as a ‘force bug check.’

One other change on the BSoD is the addition of a QR code. Blue Screen of Deaths have a problem or error code that can be searched online to find the cause of BSoD and diagnose it, adding a QR code is a welcome move as it will make searching and diagnosing faster.

It is not yet clear if the green color was selected for any particular reason, but the addition of QR code can be understood easily.

The change in color is only for Windows Insiders as it will make it easy to distinguish between Windows Releases. As of now, Microsoft has not announced any plan to change the color for regular releases of the operating system. The QR should make it to regular version though as it will be useful for all users.

It should be noted that the Insider Preview was leaked, apart from the changes in BSoD, the new build also adds some other new features, such as:

  • F.lux like blue light reduction mode
  • Options to set-up Cortana on the initial PC setup
  • Microsoft Edge tab improvements
  • App folders on Start Menu/Screen

There is no denying that having an error-free operating system is impossible, and it is at least good that Microsoft is making some changes to help users in understanding the errors.

Gigabyte’s New Compact Gaming PC Looks Interestingly Weird

The Gigabyte GZ1DTi7 has a sixth generation Intel Core i7 processor, 16 GB of RAM and a 240 GB M.2 SSD for OS storage but it looks really weird.

Gigabytes has been in the PC Gaming industry for a while, and its Brix brand has been around too, and now, the company is ready to launch a new PC in the series, the BRIX-GZ1DTi7. Although the name of Compact PC is not an exciting one, the PC sure looks like an interesting piece of technology.

The Compact gaming PC has a PS3 Slim like body construction except for a bit weird with glowing LED lights and a green mesh on the top area. There is no sliding BluRay drive on the top, but the device looks a lot like a prop from a science fiction movie.

While the design is weird, it looks like Gigabyte has done a good job in the specs department. The Gigabyte GZ1DTi7 has a sixth generation Intel Core i7 processor, 16 GB of RAM and a 240 GB M.2 SSD for OS storage.

In the graphics department, Gigabyte will have two options for customers: Nvidia GeFource GTX 1070 or GTX 1080, both of which should be able to run AAA titles at 4K resolution. There is 1 TB of Hard Drive too.

Gigabyte GZ1DTi7 Specifications:

  • Intel 6th Generation Intel Core i7-6700K Processor
  • 16GB DDR4 SO-DIMM RAM
  • 240GB M.2 SSD
  • 5″ 1TB HDD 7200 RPM Hard Drive
  • 276x384x128 mm dimensions
  • GeForce GTX 1070/1080 8GB Graphics Card
  • Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165NGW
  • Qualcomm Atheros Killer E2400 Gigabit LAN
  • 1 USB Type-C with Support of Thunderbolt 3 or USB3.1
  • 1 USB3.1 Type-A Slot
  • 3 USB3.0 Type A Slot

While the specifications and connecitivitiy are impressive considering the size of SKUs, Aesthetics of the PC will still play an important role in dicideing if it is a good buy. Gigabyte explains the weird, Mountain Dew inspired design by the cooling mechanism, though; I wonder why PC OEMs are still digging on Mac Pros Trashcan-cylindrical design in 2016.

There are no talks about pricing on the product pages or from Gigabyte yet, but it won’t be long before we get the information from the company.

What do you think about the PC? Do you think the design is good or a bit too edgy to put it in the living room? Share with us in the comments below.

Rumours: Samsung Galaxy S8 Will Have 8 GB RAM and 256 GB Storage

With Note 7 getting into so much trouble and iPhones selling so well, Samsung has more pressure on making S8 better than ever. Rumors from many sources have started floating around the Internet that indicate Samsung is working its ass off to make the next phone more impressive than the competition.

Known for its accurate rumors about Samsung hardware, Ice Universe has suggested that Samsung Galaxy S8 will be the first Samsung phone to come with a whopping 8 GB of RAM that too will be built using a 10nm fabrication technology. The same rumors also claim that Samsung will use UFS 2.1 Flash storage which is supposed to be much faster than the read-write speed of current devices. Leaks in the past have already suggested that Samsung will have a 256 GB internal storage version of the phone.

Apart from the above, publication based on South Korea also suggested that Samsung will be making some changes to the S8 lineup. The phone will be available in 2 variants which will differ in screen sizes. Galaxy S8 will be a 5″ device while the other version will be called Galaxy S8 Plus which will sport a 6″ Super AMOLED display.

To deal with the large size of S8 Plus, Samsung may minimize the bezel on the phones. However, a 6″ Galaxy S series flagship may indicate the death of Note series.
