Bending displays had been promising a mix with touchscreen for long. Last year at CES, we saw some flexible displays, Samsung itself has talked about making a phone with this kind of display in past and it looks like Samsung might really be the first to get a truly foldable smartphone out from South Korea that has all smartphone features of our modern devices.
LetsGoDigital claims that the National Radio Research Agency of the Korea Communications Commission (KCC) has approved the Samsung device called the Samsung Galaxy X. It has a model number SM-G888N0. “N0” means it is for Korean market right now.
On the certification result page, SM-G888N0 is shown“Equipment of radio equipment for LTE mobile communication” which seems a phone or hybrid smartphone/tablet of some kind.
Seemingly it’s going to be available soon in at least in South Korea. West will get a glimpse at CES 2018 in Las Vegas probably. Passing through the US FCC in the coming weeks for a better idea of when it will be unveiled.
As a new device in the market with its unique foldability, Apple’s new iPhone X may be its target rival.
That product sits alongside the iPhone 8 series sporting a new take on the traditional iPhone formula. It would be exciting to see many handsets compete against each other at the same time.We have seen a few bezel-less devices, Pixels from Google, released around the iPhone X from major manufacturers, Samsung’s folding device is an interesting entry.
