Samsung is Making a Smaller, Cheaper Version of Galaxy S8 Called Galaxy S8 Mini (Report)

Ever since it launched, Galaxy S8 has done a lot of improvements in Samsung’s public image after the Note 7 fiasco. In my opinion, Galaxy S8 is the most beautiful phone in the market with an unmatched display, good camera and for the first time, polished software. Probably the only con of phone is its expensive price.

Well, some recent leaks suggest that the South Korean smartphone giant is already working on a smaller and cheaper version of phone called S8 Mini or Lite (we don’t have confirmed name yet). A recent leak on winfuture.de suggested that the phone will run on a not-yet announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 840 SoC which will have 4 cores. If naming conventions work as expected, the S8 mini will be faster compared to current flagship, the S8 and the upcoming Galaxy Note 8.

Unfortunately apart from the processor name, and the fact that the phone will run on Android 7.1 Nougat, the leak did not reveal any significant detail.

Considering that there are far fewer details about the S8 Mini than upcoming Galaxy Note 8, I don’t think the phone will arrive anytime before the end of the year. For now, the company seems to be focussing solely on the Galaxy Note 8 launch on which may happen on August 28.
