Samsung Just Launched Galaxy Tab S4 to Take On Apple iPad and Microsoft Surface

Traditional Android tablets might be dead, but it looks like Samsung is not willing to let Microsoft and Apple take the market of convertible tablets, after months of launching its last Android tablet, the South Korean smartphone giant released Tab S4 today.

The new tablet is aimed to replace a Windows or Mac laptop. It supports a new Samsung Dex which instantly converts the tablet to a surface like laptop. Aside from introducing the Dex, the company has also made some other changes comp0ared to the older Tab S3.

The new S4 will come with an octa-core 2.35 GHz Snapdragon 845 SOC and it is paired with 4Gb of RAM, which is surprisingly lower than its tip tier smartphone, the Galaxy S9 which comes with 6Gb of RAM. The new tablet also comes with 64 GB of internal storage and it has a 10.5-inch screen with a screen resolution of 2560 by 1600 pixels.

Coming to the cameras, the tab S4 has a 13-megapixel rear camera and 8-megapixel front camera.

Apart from the Samsung Dex dock, the company has also launched a new Galaxy S pen to come with the tab S4, the stylus supports over 4000 pressure levels for drawing and has its pen tip of 0.7 mm diameter.

At the time, the Galaxy Tab S4 will sell for $650, which is roughly Rs 44,400 in India for its 64Gb variant.

Considering its price and the audience Samsung is targeting it at, it will be interesting to see how it sells compared to Microsoft Surface and Apple’s iPad Pro.
