Nokia Launches Nokia 5, A Budget Android Phone With 3 GB RAM

Nokia launched the Nokia 3 and Nokia 5 a few months ago, but both were a bit under powered compared to phones in the same price range to get this right, HMD Global on Monday announced a new 3GB RAM variant of the Nokia 5,  keep in mind that the original variant featured 2GB of RAM, at Rs. 12,499. 3GB RAM variant price in India is Rs. 13,499. Flipkart will sale this smartphone or one week starting Tuesday, November 7.

By November 14, Nokia 5 will be available on retail outlets across India in colors, Matte Black and Tempered Blue colour, as informed HMD Global. Original variant had been launched in Copper and Silver colors.

Apart from RAM, the model is quite identical. Its specifications include the dual-SIM (Nano), Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box. It Includes a 5.2-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) IPS LCD display with 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass protection and is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC.

On optics it has 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF, an f/2.0 aperture, and dual-tone flash. 8-megapixel autofocus camera with an f/2.0 aperture and an 84-degree field-of-view is there for selfies.

Connectivity options on the Nokia 5 include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.1, FM radio with RDS, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB with OTG, and a 3.5mm audio jack. Sensors on board include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, digital compass, gyroscope, and proximity sensor. A 3000mAh battery non-removable measuring 149.7×72.5×8.05 is there excluding the camera bump – which takes it up to 8.55mm.

It will be interesting to see how Nokia 5 performs in the market considering there are already some great phones such as Motorola’s G5.
