It is no doubt that Windows Phone has been a big disappointment for Microsoft. So much so that even Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates uses Android Phones now. In a situation like this, it makes sense that Microsoft will try something completely new in the mobile space, and it looks like Microsoft is trying to do exactly that.
A new patent filing in the US revealed many details about Microsoft’s upcoming phone. The project is codenamed Andromeda and the patent shows that Microsoft’s phone will be foldable, similar to ZTE’s new foldable phone. The screen will be made of two separate AMOLED panels. The patent discusses many ‘modes’ of the phone including tent, laptop, and flat configuration.
There is a USB-C port and with references to a Sirlink connector for external connectivity. A Reddit user who claimed to e a former employee claimed that the phone won’t be launched for at least another year and added “Nobody knows what they are working on right now, but they don’t seem to be giving up,” the user added.
“Some special phone-PC-like Windows 10 ARM device will probably arrive in late 2018 or 2019. I have no more info on that, but I think Windows 10 ARM is much further away than some of us hope.”
These are not the first details coming about Microsoft making a foldable phone either, we covered another patent filing almost a year ago.
