Ever since the launch of Reliance Jio, the market has flooded with low-cost entry-level smartphones. Today, Smartphone maker Coolpad added one more device to the category with the launch of Coolpad Defiant, an Android phone that costs only Rs 6,500 or $100.

The biggest selling point of the phone is probably that the phone runs on Android 7.0, unlike most of the competition. Apart from that, the phone has a 5-inch display with the screen resolution of 480×854 pixels and it is powered by a 104GHz quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM.

The Coolpad Defiant has 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded using a microSD card and the battery is a 2450mAh affair which, according to the company, should last for 16.5 hours of talk time.

The phone supports LTE, Bluetooth, GPS, and VoLTE out of the box. In the optics department, the phone has a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front camera.

Should you buy the Coolpad Defiant? well, the phone’s display is not as pixel-rich as it can be and as we have discussed in past, having only 1GB RAM may not be enough for most people. In my opinion, the phone may be a good secondary phone, but if you are looking for a phone to use as your daily drivers, there are better options for not much extra price.
