Three months ago Nintendo had announced Super Mario Run for iOS, and now the game is finally coming to Android. It will run on Android devices worldwide from 23rd March. The launch comes weeks after another Nintendo mobile game, the fantasy tactical-RPG Fire Emblem: Heroes, launched for both Android and iOS in early February.
Nintendo of America’s Twitter account announced the Android launch date, and also stated that Super Mario Run would be getting a version 2.0.0 update as well. The new update will add new playable characters to the game. Players can make Mario jump with a single tap, though there are surprisingly complex mechanics underneath the one-touch setup.
If we assume that the game uses the same format as it does over on iOS, then it can be predicted that Super Mario Run will be free to download and try, but access to all ten worlds players will need to pay the user to pay $10 for a one-time in-app purchase.
Nintendo has also announced its plans to launch the mobile version of its very famous game Animal Crossing somewhere in the next fiscal year. The company says it will launch anywhere near two to three games for smartphones each year.
As Microsoft promised a few days ago, the new game mode on Windows 10 is now available for Windows Insiders, and if you want, you can try the new performance enhancement mode on your PC too.
The new Game Mode is not yet pushed to every Windows 10 user -it will take a few more weeks for the public release, but the newest build of Windows 10 (15019) has the new feature with some other changes coming to the OS.
The idea of Game Mode is simple: it helps you in improving gaming performance of a PC by disabling background processes and by prioritizing the Game for more GPU and CPU resources.
Microsoft has a little explainer video, that talks about the new game mode and how it can be enabled:
While the game mode is better than nothing, don’t expect your frame rates to skyrocket. Microsoft only estimates that you will get 2 to 5 percent increase frame rates. But maximum frame rate is not the most important part for most people. The game mode could be a real game changer if it can help gamers in increasing average frame rates.
Turning on the Game Mode
Microsoft will maintain a list of whitelisted games for Game mode, and you can enable the list by going to Settings and then Games, here you can toggle the game mode on or off.
If a game is not on the whitelist, you can turn on the Game mode manually for any game (it supports Win32 and UWP games both) simply press Win+G on your keyboard to open the Game bar and then click on the settings icon. From the new dialog box, you will be able to enable the mode.
Game Mode might be a great selling point for Windows 10 in future, but one should also keep in mind that the feature is still under testing and there might be bugs or crashes in the games occasionally. If you are a PC gamer, I have talked about some other ways to improve gaming performance of your PC that you should defiantly check out.
While Windows 10 improves over Windows 7 regarding performance in many factors, gaming was not one of the best plus points to upgrade when the OS was released back in 2015. Many PC gamers refused to upgrade citing no increase (or slight decrease) in performance with the new operating system. It looks like Microsoft is taking some interesting steps to deal with the problem and improve the gaming performance of Windows 10.
Platform Engineer for Xbox, Mike Ybarra today confirmed that the Creators Update of the OS will bring a Game Mode to all users later this year.
The Game Mode will optimize the PC for increased performance in gaming, and it will support all (Win32 and UWP) games made for the OS. Mike did not go into details about how it will work, but considering how Gaming performance actually works it can be understood that the Game Mode will probably prioritize the running games and will disable/ stop background processes in the PC.
This is a big update for Windows; we’re looking forward to Insiders getting their hands on this new feature for further testing
– Mike Ybarra
Microsoft already has a power saver mode to increase battery life that can be activated by going to Notifications and clicking on Battery Saver. However, apart from adding an energy plan, Microsoft has never made any performance mode dedicated to gaming. Considering PC’s are one of the best (at least for millions of people) devices to play games, adding a dedicated gaming mode can be a great selling point for the OS.
Ever since the PlayStation 4 was launched in 2015, the company has only sold it in a black color with the exception of some special editions.
Today, the company announced a new color that looks -at least to me- damn cool: glacier white. It will cost 299 Euros for 500GB model, and the console will include a same colored Dualshock 4 controller. The company will start selling it on January 24th in Europe. In Japan, the product will be launched on February 23.
The color matches with Microsoft Xbox One S lineup well and now that both consoles are smaller compared to when the original ones were launched, new colors make more sense.
There is no word about the release dates of new color in the US or in India, also the company has not cleared out if PS4 Pro will be launched in the new color or not.
Before we talk about the price of Acer’s latest Gaming beast, let us have a look at what it offers. The Predator 21 X is a gaming laptop with a curved 21 Inch display. A 2560×1080 IPS Curved Display to be exact. The laptop has seventh generation desktop grade i7 processor and two Nvidia GTX 1080 linked with SLI.
The laptop has 4 DDR4 RAM slots offering maximum 64 GB of RAM and up to four 512 GB solid state drives. Two of these drives can be NVMe PCIe, which is an uncool way of saying that they will have blistering performance.
The Laptop will have hard drive slots too; standard one will be 2TB.
These are sure eye-popping specs for a gaming laptop (or even for a desktop for that matter); Acer has decided the price of the laptop to be eye-popping too: $8999 (almost 6,00,000 Indian Rupees).
For this price, Acer has added some add-ons to make it feel a bit more like a good bargain. Just like the recently launched Razor Pro, the laptop has a mechanical keyboard. Also, the touchpad can be flipped to reveal a numeric keypad. In the sound department, the company has added four speakers and two subwoofers, and there are a total of five cooling fans to keep the monster-size laptop cool.
It is obvious that Predator 21 X is more of an engineering show-off rather than a general commercial product. Only the most hardcore gamers can be interested in a gaming laptop that costs a cool $9000, Acer understands it too as the company won;t be mass producing the laptop.
Currently, Acer is has put the laptop on display at CES2017. Starting from next month, the company will be making these laptops only after a customer has placed an order. This will make sure that no laptop is gathering dust on a retail store.

The Gigabyte GZ1DTi7 has a sixth generation Intel Core i7 processor, 16 GB of RAM and a 240 GB M.2 SSD for OS storage but it looks really weird.
Gigabytes has been in the PC Gaming industry for a while, and its Brix brand has been around too, and now, the company is ready to launch a new PC in the series, the BRIX-GZ1DTi7. Although the name of Compact PC is not an exciting one, the PC sure looks like an interesting piece of technology.
The Compact gaming PC has a PS3 Slim like body construction except for a bit weird with glowing LED lights and a green mesh on the top area. There is no sliding BluRay drive on the top, but the device looks a lot like a prop from a science fiction movie.
While the design is weird, it looks like Gigabyte has done a good job in the specs department. The Gigabyte GZ1DTi7 has a sixth generation Intel Core i7 processor, 16 GB of RAM and a 240 GB M.2 SSD for OS storage.
In the graphics department, Gigabyte will have two options for customers: Nvidia GeFource GTX 1070 or GTX 1080, both of which should be able to run AAA titles at 4K resolution. There is 1 TB of Hard Drive too.
1 USB Type-C with Support of Thunderbolt 3 or USB3.1
1 USB3.1 Type-A Slot
3 USB3.0 Type A Slot
While the specifications and connecitivitiy are impressive considering the size of SKUs, Aesthetics of the PC will still play an important role in dicideing if it is a good buy. Gigabyte explains the weird, Mountain Dew inspired design by the cooling mechanism, though; I wonder why PC OEMs are still digging on Mac Pros Trashcan-cylindrical design in 2016.
There are no talks about pricing on the product pages or from Gigabyte yet, but it won’t be long before we get the information from the company.

Mario’s creator, Nintendo revealed the install numbers today via a press release. According to Apple’s iOS App Store, the game has topped the “Free” chart in almost 140 countries. It should be noted that the game is -at the time of writing- available in 150 countries.
If we compare the hopping plumber’s journey on mobile phones to Pokemon Go, Mario looks way ahead. At the launch time, Pokemon Go completed 25 million downloads after 11 days of its initial launch. But it should be kept in mind that Pokemon Go was released in only a few select markets.
Now that Super Mario Run is available on iOS devices, Nintendo has revealed some plans to make it easy to access all different modes once they have installed the game on their devices.
Users can now play with friends in a Friendly Run mode; no one will need the ticket for it, but it will be limited to 5 players in a day.
Nintendo has cleared that the game won’t be an iOS exclusive, but there is no date of Android release. It won’t be a surprise if we get to see the same record breaking installs on Google Play Store Too.
Have you played the game on your phone? How was it? Share with us in the comments below.
While everyone seems to be excited to control the hopping plumber on their phones, there is one weird requirement to play the game: You will need to be online.
Super Mario Run is going to be launched on December 15. And while everyone seems to be excited to control the hopping plumber on their phones, there is one weird requirement to play the game: You will need to be online.
Considering the game will keep the necessary data on local storage, being should not be a requirement for anyone. Games such as Temple Run have been running offline for years -yes, some functionality such the market place is unavailable, but you can still play the game.
Well, that won’t be the case with Super Mario Run. As Nintendo’s icon Shigeru Miyamoto told Mashable:
“[O]ur software [is] very important asset for us,” said Miyamoto. “We wanted to be able to leverage that network connection [to offer] the game in a way that keeps the software secure.”
So ultimately this step by Nintendo is to fight with piracy. It can’t be said if Nintendo will win for sure, but paying users are losing in some ways.
Nintendo first announced the game at Apple’s special event on September where the company revealed that gaming’s biggest icon is making its debut on smaller screen with an iOS game, later, the Japanese company also received that the games won’t be platform exclusive as it will launch on Android too.
If you are curious about how the game works and you want to take a sneak peak, you can go to an Apple Store nearby. And if you are too lazy to do that, here is a video of Miyamoto playing Super Mario Run while doing bicep curls.
Have a cool drink, get a bag of Cheetos, grab your crayons from your drawers and start coloring some gaming characters on Sony’s Playstation coloring book.
You have just finished your 5-hour session of No Man’s Sky and now you don’t want to stare at your TV screen anymore, but you also don’t want to stay away from your gaming characters. What do you do?
Well… Sony has a solution for you. Have a cool drink, get a bag of Cheetos, grab your crayons from your drawers and start coloring some gaming characters on Sony’s Playstation coloring book.
Sony calls the book ‘Art for the players: The Official Coloring Book from Playstation’ and right now, you can buy it from Amazon for just 8 bucks. The book has some of the most iconic PlayStation games including Uncharted, God of War and Tearaway.
If you are a gamer and a coloring lover both at the same time, sure coloring your favorite gaming characters is better than just filling green color in bushes on a KG kid’s coloring book. At least Sony thinks so.

Twitch is going to be ad-free for anyone who pays for Amazon Prime alongside with that, the new user tier will also include some other perks.
Twitch, the game streaming site that every teen knows about, is going to be ad-free for anyone who pays for Amazon Prime alongside with that, the new user tier will also include some other perks.
Twitch is currently owned by Amazon and today’s announcement from the company sheds some light on new perks of being a Prime Subscriber. The service will be -not surprisingly- called Twitch Prime and alongside with providing ad-free viewing, it will also offer games on discount prices and “game loot” for its members.
Game Loot will give users new characters, vehicles another in-game stuff for users. Also, Twitch Prime will give you a free channel subscription every month. It is not yet clear if you can keep the channel subscription for free or not.
Combining it with 2-day shipping and Amazon’s video and music libraries, the cost of $99 a year doesn’t sound too much.
Unlike other services such as Prime Video, you can’t directly subscribe to Twitch Prime standalone, instead, you are asked to sign up for Amazon Prime. The first month is free and then you will have to pay $10.99 per month.
Twitch has a deep impact on Gaming Industry and with the Twitch Prime, Amazon seems very confident that the impact of Twitch will help make the e-commerce giant more money.
