The new phone updates the design and it also has some performance improvements while keeping its price to a similar level.
The new phone runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box and it has a 5.2-inch HD+ display with a taller aspect ratio. It is powered by MediaTek MT6750N which is paired with 2 or 3 GB of RAM. Storage options are 16 or 32 Gb although it can be expanded using MicroSD cards.
It will be priced at INR 10,499 or roughly $152 in the US. Considering the phone comes with Android One and as such it will get regular updates from Google mothership, it may be a good choice for users looking for cheap phones with clean software.
Still, an almost bezel-less phone with a notch and a tall display is first for Nokia and its one of the best looking phones the company has launched in a while.
The X6 comes with 4 or 6GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. The phone is powered by a Snapdragon 636 SoC and the front of the phone has a 5.8-inch full-HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 19:9. Furthermore, the display is protected with a 2.5D curved glass.
In the optics department, the phone comes with dual camera setup on the back, one of which is 16 MP and the other one is a 5 MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture. The front of the phone has a single 16-megapixel sensor.
In China the phone costs CNY 1,699 which is roughly Rs 17,600 in India. There is no official date of the phone launching in US or India as of now but considering its price, Nokia must be expecting the phone to do well in mid-range phone markets.
With two models Moto E5 and E5 Plus, the new phones come with some much-needed updates to their older counterparts. The Moto E5 comes with a new 5.7 inch 18:9 display with 1440 x 720 resolution and the E5 Plus will come with a larger 6-inch screen with the same resolution. E5 has 2GB of RAM and it runs on entry-level Snapdragon 425 processor and has a quite sizable 4000 mAh battery.
E5 Plus will come with 3 GB RAM and Snapdragon 430 processor and 32 GB of built-in storage.
Camera wise, the E5 has a single 13 Mp f2.0 camera on its back and the E5 Plus will come with a 12 megapixel f2.0 camera the E5 will have an impressive 5000 mAh battery but be ready for large recharge timing because none of the phones support fast charging.
Coming to prices, the Moto E5 will cost $145 (Rs 9999) and the larger ( and higher spec’d) E5 Plus will cost around $175 (Rs 11,999) Considering both Samsung and Xiaomi have good phones in this price range, Moto will have a decent competition to face.
Ice Universe on Twitter shared an image of the phone which shows the Note 9’s back, which looks a bit different than the last one. One thing still impressive is that the phone looks to be keeping its headphone jack. Alongside that, we can see a USB-C port and a slot to keep the S-Pen each Note device ships with.
Interestingly, the photo shows that the S Pen will come in a gold color which will be a first for the series.
According to the rumors, the Note 9 will be most expensive in the series with a price tag of PLN 4299 which is roughly Rs. 80,ooo in India. The pre-orders will begin on the 9th August which is also the day of phone’s official announcement.
The phone will probably have a bezel-less display without a notch and it will have an in-display fingerprint sensor as well.
This was well expected by industry pundits, but surprisingly enough, the latest leaks suggest that the phone will come with a triple camera setup on the back.
This information came from ETNews which stated that apart from a flat 5.8-inch display variant, the phone will have a tri-camera setup on its back, sadly, the report did not state any specs of the sensors but if it is true, we can expect some more leaks about it in future.
Take these reports with a pinch of salts though, as no info about the Galaxy S10 is official. Still, it will be interesting to see if triple lens camera setup becomes the next industry trend next year.
The Note 9 looks a lot like the Galaxy Note 8 launched last year which indicates that users expecting a huge redesign will be disappointed. And about specs, you can expect top of the line silicon powering the phone.
It will be running on Snapdragon 845 SoC or Samsung’s homegrown Exynos 9810 SoC and will come with 6 GB of RAM alongside with expected minimum 64 GB storage and a dual 12-megapixel camera setup on the back. The phone will cost the same as other variants of the phone but Samsung has not talked about any plans of the phone being launched on countries outside of China.
Interestingly enough, the phone ships with a matching red Yves Saint Laurent lipstick, probably to attract women looking for a Luxury phone.
I will keep an eye on it and let you know if the phone ever comes to US and India but judging from past experience, it probably won’t happen.
