Just a few days ago, a data study revealed that Apple is updating older phones to slow down if they have an old battery. After some backlash, Apple acknowledged that the updates to slow down old phones are being pushed to preserve battery life.
Now, after this admission from Apple. An individual Stefan Bogdanovich filed a fist action lawsuit against the company. He claimed in his lawsuit that Apple’stactic of slowing down performance has caused losses to iPhone 7 and 7 Plus users. He put that Apple never asked users for permission and the decision was as a ploy for Apple to market its products every year.
Another lawsuit was reported by Chicago Sun-Times where Five Apple customers in the state have filed federal lawsiit alledging inethical practices by Apple.
In case you missed, Apple’s statement on Thursday stated:
“Last year we released a feature for iPhone 6, iPhone 6s and iPhone SE to smooth out the instantaneous peaks only when needed to prevent the device from unexpectedly shutting down during these conditions. We’ve now extended that feature to iPhone 7 with iOS 11.2, and plan to add support for other products in the future,”
Time will tell how these lawsuits turn out for Apple, it would be interesting to see nonetheless.
