Android 8.1 Developer Preview is Out, You Can Install It If You Are Brave Enough

There have not been many days since Google rolled out the Android Oreo, but it looks like Google is working constantly on OS improvements. Android 8.1 Developer Preview is ready for compatible Pixel and Nexus devices. Images are already there with screenshots of Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Pixel C, Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, and Pixel 2 XL.

The users may start using the preview by installing it either by enrolling their device in automatic OTA system updates so that Android Beta Program will allow (OTA) updates. Otherwise, they can also download a Developer Preview system image and flash it on your device.

New Android version now allows apps to make only one notification per second as alert sounds. Google confirms that this part in only for an improvement purpose. Settings have a colored navigation bar. It can dim when scrolled towards the bottom. Dimming the buttons can be done with other apps too. Also, the icon for system notifications is new.

Bluetooth settings, however, have a bigger change. Battery level will now in Quick Settings. Connected Bluetooth accessory and battery levels can be checked from Quick Settings toggle. The new developer build also removes sRGB toggle from the device which was listed in Developer options.

The Android 8.1 gets rid of ‘Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep’ from Wi-Fi preferences. New Oreo Easter egg and the automatic light with dark themes have been removed. Android Police also reported a new power menu design on the Android 8.1 which comes with bug report button.
